A detail from a Roman Missal Illumination for the feast of Christmas gives this cards a timelessly solemn tone for the great feast.
Inside (left side) Poem: The Star by Sister Marie-Bernard, MICM
High in the heavens on that frigid night
Shone a brilliant, dazzling light
It could be seen from near and far,
That shining, vivid Christmas Star.
Beaming from its supernal place,
It summoned men from every race,
To worship in that lowly stall;
Almighty God, and infant small.
And from the hills the shepherds came
To see their King and praise His name,
While three great kings came from afar,
Guided by that lustrous star.
And it was by that splendid ray,
That heaven's angels found their way
To the crib of that sacred Boy,
Thus to sing in bursting joy.
On Christmas night it still is seen,
That magnificent and brilliant beam;
It beckons us to worship there,
To offer Him our hearts – in prayer.
